The Landscape Maintenance Technician is a full-time role that prioritizes safety while working to maintain overall cleanliness and a well-groomed Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari property. Essential duties include mowing grass, removing weeds, tree management, plant management, and trash removal. The Landscape Maintenance Technician ensures walkways and landscaping remain clear of ice, snow, leaves and other debris throughout the entire year.
Landscape Maintenance Technicians are also eligible for our skill-based pay program! This compensation program allows our Part & Full-Time Maintenance Team to increase their rate of pay by developing their knowledge and skills at our parks through the completion of certifications and cross-training in other departments.
Safety and Environmental Performance
- Lead the safety effort by personal example
- Adhere to SOPs and other work procedures as required to assist employees and assure Guest satisfaction
- Use and maintain Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari’s equipment and property in the appropriate manner
- Always follow instructions of posted safety signs and warnings to ensure your personal well-being
- Immediately report all injuries to your direct supervisor, management on duty, or the Full-Time Safety Team

Work Requirements
- Ensure all Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari property achieve quality and appearance standards
- Ensure the highest safety standards are followed in the Park Services departments
- Assist Manager with activities involving landscape maintenance services, including the coordination of all materials, people, and equipment required to produce a quality job
- Maintain equipment for the entire Parks Services departments, including mowers, power washers, bobcats, tractors, etc.
- Assist Landscape Manager to inspect properties daily to prioritize activities
- Assist the Landscape Manager with company policies and supervision of seasonal employees including:
- Enforcing all safety rules
- Evaluating staffing levels
- Constantly evaluating work performance and coaching employees as instructed by Manager, Director, or Assistant Vice President
- Interviewing, hiring, and training
- Enforcing Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari core values and standards, such as uniform and appearance standards
- Perform hands-on grounds-keeping work such as mowing, tree limb removal, pest control, fertilizing and assist with snow removal
- Report to work as scheduled, including holidays, weekends, evenings, and overtime
- Cross-train and Assist Operational Departments such as Attractions, as needed
- Perform daily housekeeping tasks to keep your workplace clean, organized, maintained, and safe
- Be available to work unscheduled hours to respond to unplanned and/or emergency work
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-2 years of landscaping experience
- 1-2 years of small engine repairs
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software programs
- Ability to use all landscape equipment including zero-turn riding mower, stand-on mower, weed eater, backpack leaf blower, skid-steer, forklift, tractor, articulating loader, etc.
- Knowledge of plant material, diseases and insects, chemical spray, and irrigation
- Ability to properly use a respirator and pass a full-face respirator fit test, if needed
- Ability to wear PPE
- Ability to work full-time with a dependable attendance record
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to travel overnight to attend and participate in seminars, meetings and conferences out of town
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language
- Ability to work cross functionally with all levels of employees and management
- Acceptable pre-employment drug screen and background check
Physical Requirements
- Frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, and reach high and low
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, capable of identifying colors
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work at heights 175 feet above ground
- Ability to work in sunny, hot, cold, windy, rainy, noisy environments, and confined spaces
