Position: Operator

Location: USA | Troy, Indiana


Job Summary- Operation of plant process is essential to a safe and efficient plant operations and product quality. The position supplements and supports ongoing efforts of continuous improvement of all plant processes/operation.

 

This is considered a safety sensitive position therefore will be subject to random drug testing as required.

Responsibilities

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Move Railcars in and out of unloading station using railcar tugger
  • Unloading of railcars into the proper storage tank
  • Adding additives to finished product
  • Receiving incoming raw materials
  • Monitor coal milling operations and ensure adjustments are made as needed
  • Operate blending equipment to process preapproved customer orders
  • Assist with maintenance tasks as needed
  • Perform clean up duties to ensure a safe and comfortable work environment
  • Operate forklift as needed
  • Load and unload bulk pneumatic trucks
  • Actively participates in the implementation of sustainable continuous improvement processes, such as 5S, Kaizen, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Daily Management Control, Standard Work and Problem Solving
  • Other Duties & Responsibilities-Operator will be required to assist in all other areas of plant clean up, maintenance projects and clerical responsibilities as required. Perform all other work as deemed necessary

Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements-

Education:

High School diploma/GED.  Ability to read and speak English. 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

This position requires knowledge of process operations, quality systems and safety. Must be very safety oriented for themselves and others. Be responsible for his/her actions and willing to learn and work on their own. Computer knowledge a plus. Maintenance background a plus.

 

While performing the duties of this job, an employee is typically required to have the ability to exert physical strength continuously throughout the work shift, coordinate movements, use repetitive motions, lift materials weighing up to and including 50 pounds (floor to waist), sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, twist, lift, climb stairs & rung ladders, push and pull throughout a work shift, have the ability to operate mobile equipment, select and use appropriate equipment/tools to accomplish job duties, read, write, listen, speak and understand English, follow all instructions and other oral/written information, visually inspect equipment/work area/product, complete paperwork/labeling and other documentation accurately, use judgment to identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and solve equipment/work area/product issues, communicate effectively with others, record information from the work shift in writing and on a personal computer, be aware of oneself in relation to surrounding equipment, work independently and as a team with others, use, monitor and adjust equipment and related processes, keep pace with equipment/machinery, and react quickly to equipment/product issues. The ability to effectively instruct/transfer job information/knowledge to others as needed is preferred.

 

Being under general supervision, the employee is expected to be self-directed and take initiative when appropriate to accomplish necessary duties and keep busy without prompting from the supervisor. Additionally, the employee is expected to be adaptable/flexible to changing work assignments, perform multiple tasks at once, have a high level of integrity, dependability and self-control to maintain composure, learn and memorize procedures, prioritize work and be persistent as needed, manage time effectively and efficiently, meet established deadlines, display a cooperative demeanor, read, understand and follow all company, job specific and safety policies/procedures, and attend/use all required training.

 

Travel:

This position does not ordinarily require travel. Travel for coursework or education could be required on a very infrequent basis. Some opportunity for travel could be available if desired to assist other plants within the network.

 

Working Conditions:

Manufacturing setting – warehouse, production facility, rail car unloading and sand conveyor. Working in all outdoor elements is required.

 

Work Hours:

Typically scheduled Monday – Friday with one day every other weekend. However, must have ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays if needed.

 

Safety Training:

Required training will be given on site.
